Leaving LA was a boss battle (literally)
Zach here đź‘‹
The move from LA has been absolutely nuts. We dealt with construction on our roof 6 days a week, movers showing up late, bank issues—pretty much you name it and it happened.
It literally felt like fighting a final boss.
And ironically, the last piece I wrote in my LA studio was a final boss track:
|
The only difference was that engaging this boss was an absolute blast.
The character was inspired by my comments section on YouTube describing what they pictured from a sneak preview of the track—which I then merged into a singular description for the Urnkeeper:
“A mischievous, insect-like guardian made from cracked pots and twisted vines, its hollow body patched together like an ancient urn. Long, spindly limbs let it skitter across the stone floors of the catacombs it protects. It moves erratically—sometimes lurching like a marionette with invisible strings, other times leaping high, hurling shards of broken pottery at intruders. Those who stumble upon its lair find themselves locked in a frantic dance to the death.”
If you're familiar with The Call of Raven's Hollow, you'll recognize at least one theme baked into the track.
And if you want more, the full 1-hour composing session is up now on Patreon.
Stay creative—and more soon as we settle into Colorado ⛰️
